How we met

When we’re young, we imagine life unfolding somewhere far away — the places we’ll go, the people we’ll meet, and who we will become. We rarely expect it to bring us back to where we started — or to the people who were there from the beginning.

We met for the first time at three years old, in preschool, and quickly became inseparable, always finding each other during breaks, even if it meant meeting in our secret spot behind the stairs. When that year ended, we went to different schools, never realising it would be the last time we’d see each other.

At fifteen, our paths crossed again in high school, unaware we already shared a beginning.

Life took us in different directions, across countries and years. Then, much later, while living at the beach, a simple conversation quietly brought it all back.

It turns out we met many times. Only when the timing was right did we finally meet for real, and we recognised not only an old friend, but a soulmate.
